I had the pleasure of touring Assumption University in Worcester, Massachusetts with my friend and colleague yesterday. I loved what I saw. This is a small Augustinian university that has a lot of school spirit due to its Division 2 athletics. Academically, some of the highlights are as follows: they have a number of dual degree programs where a student can get a bachelor's and master's degree in 5 years. Classes are very small and there are no teaching assistants. All professors have 6 office hours per week, which is far higher than the average. This tells me that students really have a chance to get to know their professors. They have a wonderful study abroad program in Rome with a cohort of 25 to 30 Assumption students and university faculty who travel and study together, which is different from many programs that require a very independent-minded young person. The nursing program has a stunning new state-of-the-art simulation lab. It's also important to know that Assumption is one of the few nursing programs that doesn't require students to apply early. Students can apply through the regular decision deadline and still be considered. Assumption is also in the process of seeking accreditation for a PA program and it will be exciting once that gets underway. Lastly, US News and World Report recognized Assumption in 2021 as a top college for Best Undergraduate Teaching and a Best Value School. With up to $27,000 in potential merit scholarships, Assumption is indeed a great value and a great place to go to college!
