I had been looking forward to getting up to Clarkson University in Potsdam NY. I was very impressed with what I learned today. While Clarkson has liberal arts, business, health sciences and more, it's particularly strong in engineering. Clarkson offers 9 different ABED accredited programs in engineering, with biomedical engineering coming in the next couple of years. There are 2 government-funded cybersecurity labs on campus. In addition, because of Air Force and Army ROTC programs on campus, there are high level cybersecurity classes available which are open to all students. Clarkson has been rated in the top 20 for Best Career Services AND Colleges From Which Students Go On To Earn The Most Money. This is huge! The career center has established partnerships with many companies and government organizations including Lockheed Martin. Texas Instruments and Microsoft. It's not all about STEM education at Clarkson however; they have a Division one hockey team and have an awesome pep band which travels with the team. While there are no world language or arts classes at Potsdam, students can cross-register at SUNY Potsdam, including at including its renowned Crane School of Music. If you're looking for a rugby team, a rocket club or a bass fishing club, you will find them all at Clarkson. With extremely generous merit scholarships as high as full tuition, Clarkson is well worth a visit! They're happy to set students up with a one-on-one visit with an admissions officer, faculty member, and/or student. I'll finish with this: the current president, Tony Collins, trades places with one student for a day each academic year. Isn't that fantastic? He's retiring, but I hope his successor, Marc Christensen, continues the tradition!
