I had a great tour at Drexel University in Philadelphia before I left town!!! Drexel is very well known for its co-op program which offers professional employment experience to students. There are different pathways, but 92% of Drexel students take at least one opportunity to pursue a full-time paid internship instead of classes. The average salary for this 6-month position is $20,000. And 48% of coop participants receive a job offer from their co-op employer. Academically, Drexel is well known for engineering. In fact, one out of every 100 engineers working in the US today received a bachelor's degree from Drexel's College of Engineering! And the Society of Women Engineers was founded here. Another fun fact: the barcode came out of Drexel! But there are many other wonderful departments here Including nursing, business, computer science, education, and arts and sciences. And the Westphal College of Media Arts and Design hosts a fashion show every year that's a pretty big deal. The fashion design students present their work, the marketing is handled by business students, the music is provided by students studying music business, recording and production, and the food is provided by - you guessed it - students studying culinary science and food and beverage management. Drexel is an urban, gritty university whose students are here not just to learn, but to DO.
