What stood out most to me today about my visit to Ohio Wesleyan University was that the students seemed really really happy. Academically, I was impressed with OWU's Summer Science Research Program, which gives students an opportunity to do research for 10 weeks alongside faculty, culminating in a symposium to display and share their findings. Learning by doing is a big deal here, and there are also travel-learning courses which culminate in a trip, accompanied by a professor, to explore more of what was learned in the classroom. A couple of examples are: "Spanish Immersion and Walking the Camino de Santiago" and "Music in Community Engagement Southern Louisiana." How cool is that?
