I had an absolutely outstanding visit to Quinnipiac University in Hamden Connecticut! I really don't know where to start so I will begin with health sciences. They offer a general health science major and for students who figure out what they want to do after freshmen year, there's a possibility of transferring to nursing, OT or PT if there are available spots. This is not common. I repeat: not common. A wonderful opportunity! For OT and PT, they bring in actors to work as patients. They're videotaped, and professors observe during practicals .I think this is awesome. The radiology major was fascinating to me as I know nothing about this before. It's at 3-year accelerated undergraduate program with 3 tracks: CAT scan, MRI and women's imaging. You can go on to get your masters in one more year. This opportunity is guaranteed with a 2.5 cum GPA and 3.0 program GPA. 100% of these students pass their boards and 100% get jobs. A professor in the department came out to talk to us, which is something I absolutely love when I visit colleges, and the salaries these students make when they graduate are surprisingly high. Nursing, OT, PT and PA programs are all very strong and competitive. They're looking for 4 years of math and science and patient care experience.

Here are some other things I love. The campus is beautiful. The facilities are extremely impressive. For the past 3 years, Quinnipiac has been named the top university in the US for successful career placement following Ggaduation. Engineering students get their own Quinnipiac hardhats sophomore year and they wear it as their cap at graduation! The business school has partnerships with Disney, Lego, ABC and Pepsi. We had the opportunity to chat with someone from the career office at the business school and we were very impressed with what we heard. There is a required career development class for business students. They work on their resume for 4 weeks and LinkedIn for 2 weeks. They work on their elevator pitch and they learn how to shake hands. There are 3 career fairs per year, they do an etiquette dinner and they take LinkedIn headshots. These kids get jobs. Period. The classrooms here don't seat more than 30 students. Here's my favorite thing: The deans are housed in their academic buildings with open doors. Literally. Check out the picture. So impressed with this place! As an added bonus, they're very generous with merit scholarships: $32K is the max but most students get at least $18K. There's a LOT to love at Quinnipiac.
