Seton Hall University
I had a great visit to Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey recently. Here are some interesting stats, although we weren't given sources in most cases: Seton Hall has the #1 business leadership program in the US, is in the top 5 in the US for return on investment, is in the top 25 for graduates who get the highest paying jobs, is 4th in the US according to the International Business Times for providing internship opportunities, and Seton Hall grads have 50% higher mid-career earnings than the national average for college grads. Whew! That's a lot to be proud of.
The College of Arts and Sciences is the oldest and largest school, and the humanities are alive and well here. In fact, they'd love to see more applicants to fill those programs! Communications is huge here; the Setonian is one of the top college newspapers in the country, and the radio station, WSOU is ranked #1 in the US - it was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! With its proximity to New York City (30 minutes into Penn Station), students studying Communications or Business have amazing internship and employment opportunities with the likes of ESPN, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, Sony Music, the NY Jets, Goldman Sachs, Lincoln Center, the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Viacom, Deloitte.... the list just goes on.
The School of Diplomacy and International Relations is also extremely strong, offering a unique alliance with the United Nations, and is a huge draw for out-of-state students. In addition to interning with the UN, students here intern with UNESCO, UNICEF, the FBI, the Red Cross, as well as US embassies and missions abroad.
There's a beautiful Interprofessional Health Sciences campus 10 miles away for numerous graduate programs and the clinicals for nursing majors.
Seton Hall is Catholic and feels Catholic. Three theology courses are required for all students, and the first two are Christianity based. We were there during finals, and saw a priest standing outside with a big bowl of candy, handing it out to students. So nice!
The all in price is $70K, but no one pays that; merit scholarships range from $12K to $25K, with some additional scholarships available for specific interests or talents.
I think that Seton Hall offers great programs, great opportunities, and great outcomes!
