It was fun to get back to Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts. Stonehill was founded in 1948 and is still sponsored by the Congregation of the Holy Cross – the same order that founded the University of Notre Dame. It’s a beautiful campus of 387 acres about 22 miles south of Boston.

Stonehill offers 52 majors and 55 minors within its May School of Arts and Sciences and Meehan School of Business. Some interesting majors are Actuarial Mathematics, Art & Visual Culture, Business Analytics, Digital Media Production, Neuroscience, International Business, Data Science, Health Science, Sport Management, Talent & Human Resource Management, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Management Information Systems. Minors include Business in the Spanish-Speaking World, Cinema Studies, Creative Writing, Dance Entrepreneurship, Ethical Leadership, Journalism, Music Technology, Public Policy, and Theatre. There are also 3+1 and 4+1 direct-entry master’s programs in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Education, and Marketing. Also, Stonehill has partnerships with several institutions for master’s degrees, including a 3+2 Engineering program with the University of Notre Dame and both a 3+3 and a 4+3 pathway toward a law degree at Villanova University. Here’s what’s exciting: there’s talk about adding a nursing program – and an interim dean of nursing has been appointed to develop the curriculum, so it looks like it’s happening - stay tuned!!

In keeping with its Catholic mission of creating a just and equitable society, Stonehill offers many opportunities for its students to engage in the greater community. They have a farm where students grow and donate thousands of pounds of organic produce to local partner organizations, as well as a mobile market where students offer access to healthy food options and wellness information. There’s also an arts outreach program through which Stonehill students are paired with local underserved children.

Stonehill costs just over $76K all-in, and merit scholarships range from $26K to $40K, making it a very affordable option for many. Stonehill is test-blind, and the GPA of the average admitted student is 3.4, although they said they hope to see at least a B+ in higher-level classes. With Division 1 sports, Stonehill remains a solid regional Catholic college.

I visited Stonehill College, a small Catholic institution of 2500 students in Easton, Massachusetts today. The campus is beautiful and the buildings are extremely well maintained. Academically, Stonehill has a lot to offer. First of all, they offer a 3 + 2 program in engineering. Once students meet their gen-ed requirements, they can apply to finish their degree by studying engineering for 2 years at Notre Dame. Additionally, Stonehill recently added electrical engineering and computer engineering to its list of majors on its own campus. For business majors, Stonehill opened a $35 million state-of-the-art business building in 2019 with study spaces, conference rooms, a simulated boardroom, a Bloomberg classroom and a One-Button studio where students can practice presentations and interview techniques. The business school is AACSB accredited, and offers the usual majors, plus healthcare administration, data analytics and sports management. The Stonehill Undergraduate Research Experience each summer gives students the opportunity to perform publishable research under the guidance of a faculty mentor. These positions include a generous stipend. On the fun side, there's a campus pub for 21 and over with a stage that was donated with the requirement that any events there must be free for all students. Isn't that fabulous? So small concerts, poetry slams and more are hosted with no cover charge - ever. With generous merit scholarships of of up to $32000 per year, Stonehill is a great value as well!
