It was a beautiful day at Suffolk University in Boston today with my friend and colleague, Elise! While many think of Suffolk as a commuter school historically, the times they are a-changing. 90% of freshmen live on campus, 50% of sophomores live on campus and the university guarantees 2 years housing. As a matter of fact, they are just shy of being able to guarantee 3 years on campus. For those who move off campus, Suffolk maintains a list of 180+ Suffolk-vetted landlords. This should give parents some peace of mind. Suffolk is well known for its adjunct faculty who have industry expertise. For example, there is a marketing professor who is a marketing VP at Adidas. This gives students an opportunity to learn from and network with industry professionals. While Suffolk's admit rate is high, they do offer an honors program with an interdisciplinary approach. A third of all classes over the course of 4 years are honors classes with an average of 12 students per class. Suffolk maintains a campus in Madrid, Spain, with Suffolk faculty and classes taught in English. Depending on major, students can spend a semester or up to all 4 years in Madrid! Suffolk offers a nice mix of pre-professional and liberal arts majors. Some that I find intriguing are: Big Data & Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Global & Cultural Communication, and English with a concentration in Public & Professional Writing. It's a vertical campus in the heart of Boston and a great option for students who want an urban campus integrated into the city. With merit scholarships up to $30,000, Suffolk can be a great value as well!
